My name is Hillary Preece and I am a first year Journalism major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This blog assignment has given me the opportunity to research and reveal the causes and effects of homelessness.
Poverty in the Central Coast region is a concern and a rising issue, and the homeless seem to have an inescapable presence. They can be found anywhere from street corners downtown to bumming rides on the 101. The homeless are often considered helpless and dangerous, and this blog focuses on both the positive and negative social impacts of homelessness. Sloverty is dedicated to providing help, money and support for the needs of the homeless in San Luis Obispo and to take a deeper look on the meaning and standards of poverty. Mentioned are resource pages available to the penniless and those interested in helping improve the living conditions of those still destitute.
I am very impressed with your web site. I would like to help and came to this site to find locations of soup kitchens and food banks in which I could volenteer.
My heart has been burdened lately over the need in our comunity and how close many of us are to needing help. I want to do something about it not just turn a blind eye. Thanks for your site and the ways to help.
An excellent commentary on an ongoing condition which goes unreported by MSM.
